Petopia ("we", "our", "the app") is a mobile application for managing and sharing pet profiles. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.

Information We Collect

• Account information: name, email address, password (stored hashed), bio, city, and country you provide when registering or editing your profile.
• Pet profile data: pet names, breed, and other details you enter, plus photos you upload for pets and your own profile picture.
• Camera and photo library access: used only when you choose to take or select a photo for a pet or profile picture. We do not access your camera or photos in the background.
• Location data: used, with your permission, to show nearby pets and to verify playdates. Location is only accessed while using this feature.
• Push notification tokens: used to deliver app notifications (e.g. playdate updates). You can disable notifications in your device settings.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and operate your account and pet profiles.
• To provide features such as nearby pet discovery and playdate verification.
• To send you notifications you have opted into.
• To maintain the security and integrity of the service.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for advertising or share it with third parties for marketing purposes.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Account data is stored in our database. Photos are stored in our cloud object storage. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS).

Data Retention and Account Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), after confirming your password. When you delete your account:

• Your profile photo is permanently removed from storage.
• Pets you solely own are deactivated and no longer visible to others.
• Your co-ownership links to shared pets are removed.
• Your personal information is masked/anonymized in our systems and your account is deactivated so you can no longer log in.

If you are unable to access the app, you may request deletion by emailing us at the address below.

Your Choices

• Camera, photo library, location, and notification permissions can be granted or revoked at any time in your device settings.
• You may edit or remove your profile and pet information at any time within the app.

Children's Privacy

Petopia is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
